Choosing a career in Sound Engineering, he attended Berklee College of Music between 1980 and 1985, majoring in Music Production and Engineering. From 1983 to 1986, Brad worked at Scorpio Sound in Brockton, MA, as a System Technician and embarked on several tours including with John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band and The Psychedelic Furs as Frontof-House Engineer. From 1987 to 1990, Madix worked with Electrotec as an Audio Technician on productions such as Def Leppard’s “Hysteria” tour and Rush’s “Presto” Tour. In 1991, he was enlisted as the FOH engineer for Queensryche’s Empire tour, and founded Madix Music Productions, Inc. Brad was the recipient of the prestigious Parnelli Award for his work on Rush’s “Time Machine” tour. Previously, he was awarded Pro Sound News’ “Center Stage” award for Engineer of the Year after Shania Twain’s “Up!” tour. In 2008, Madix was the recording and mix engineer on Rush’s “Hope (Live for the Art of Peace)”, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Rock Instrumental category.
