With 10 years experience in the Professional Lighting Industry, Eddie Welsh joined Jands in 2011 in the role of Lighting Applications Engineer. Eddie attended a small high school in regional Queensland where he first became interested in Lighting. Working in the school theatre Eddie quickly developed his knowledge and skills and soon became the "school expert" for anything technical or lighting related. After finishing high school Eddie continued his affair with lighting and studied at Queensland University of Technology, studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Technical Production). Throughout his 3 year period there, he gained countless hours of practical show experience with talented industry professionals mentoring his progress. He learnt many different lighting systems but became especially interested in lighting control and consoles and the programming of these consoles for productions. Eddie's first professional job was a part time role with JLX Productions a Brisbane company working on the Brisbane Festival. Eddie then took a full time job with Brisbane Powerhouse spending four years as the venue's Senior Lighting Operator and Technician. Whilst in Brisbane he also worked for Queensland Theatre Company and Queensland Performing Arts Centre, while also touring internationally as a Production/Tour Manager. In 2009, Eddie moved to Sydney and started work at the Sydney Opera House and Seymour Centre as a lighting technician and desk programmer, before taking the position of Lighting Applications Engineer at Jands. Drawing from his industry experience Eddie has become a valuable member of the Jands Technical Resource Group. His main functions are training, technical support and product development for the Jands Vista range of consoles. Eddie is a major contributor in the development of new features and improvements for Vista while ensuring the simplicity of operation is maintained.
