LDI 2016

Mike Garl currently serves as a co-chair of the ESTA Technical Standards Council and has been an active member since it was established in 1994. He previously served as chair of the Rigging Working Group and continues to the lead the E1.2 Task Group and is a member of the E1.22 Task Group. From 1984 to 2012 he was President of James Thomas Engineering, Inc. then decided to make a change to become President & General Manager of Tomcat USA. Following the sale to Milos he implemented the relocation of Tomcat operations from Guadalajara and Midland to Knoxville, Tennessee. In Knoxville Mike is chair of the Safety and Training Committee for IATSE Local 197 where he became a member in 1976. Mike is an ETCP Recognized Trainer, an IATSE Training Trust Fund Approved Trainer and OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer and conducts training seminars as often as possible. In his free time he enjoys skiing and traveling with his wife.
