Peter Thompson
Technical Manager - Lighting and Projection
Peter Thompson is the technical manager for lighting and multimedia for Cirque du Soleil’s Resident Show Division. In this current position, he develops electrical, lighting, and video infrastructures for Cirque du Soleil’s new and existing resident productions. He is also heads up the technical working group for Cirque’s Electrical Safety program.
In nearly 10 years with Cirque du Soleil, he has also been the head of lighting and projections for Cirque Resident, Big Top, and Arena productions in Europe, Asia, North and South America. During this time he was also privileged to co-design video for the 2015 refresh of Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity, and co-light design the 2014 addition of One Night for One Drop.
Prior to Cirque du Soleil, Peter worked as the head electrician for Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus and as a technical director for Club Med. Prior to that he has worked for the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, a glue factory, and housewares warehouse. He has also worked as a luggage salesman, bartender, waiter, baker, and community organizer.
Peter graduated from Austin College with a degree in philosophy. He is a Stanford Certified Project Manager, and has been an ETCP certified Entertainment Electrician since 2013.
In his spare time he and his wife Lisiane like to hike, travel, and work on the 1969 Karmann Ghia he converted to electric drive.
