Herrick Goldman has been designing lighting professionally since 1991. His work has been seen all over the world including Shanghai, London, Frankfurt, Manila, Brisbane, and other exotic locales like Boston, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, El Paso, Maui, Iowa, and Benton Illinois. Most recently (summer 20009) his work was seen in Tick Tick Boom at the Westport Country Playhouse & The Rock Tenor at the Wilma Theatre. Herrick is a member of USA/IATSE 829 In the early 90's Herrick was the Lighting Design Instructor for the MIT Theater Arts Department. In 1997 Herrick relocated to New York and continued his freelance design career hoping to find a solid mix of theatrical design and corporate entertainment projects that he could lend his artistic vision to. Having found success in this venture he founded the firm HG Lighting Design in 2006. HGLD is a design firm with a number of qualified design staff as well as production electricians and programmers available for any type of production or installation. Herrick and HGLD's designs reflect thoughtful collaboration with directors and other designers, and are inspired by a variety of images ranging from fine art to film and literature. Past design concepts have been based on the works of Hopper, Parrish, Caravaggio, and Kandinsky. Others have been drawn from such diverse works as those of Mapplethorpe and the film "Blade Runner." Most concepts come from listening to our collaborators and translating their vision to the stage. Herrick is a 2009 Hewes award nominee and the recipient of the 2009 ISES Big Apple Award for best lighting design for an event. He is a member of United Scenic Artists 829 His work can be seen at www.hglightingdesign.com
